Are you ready for a great adventure?
This trip is for you if you are a guy aged 14 or older. No prior backpacking/climbing experience is needed. This trip will have multiple adventures that will challenge you as you try something for the first time or push your existing skills.
What will you be doing you ask? A lot! Here are a few of the main highlights…
Backpacking: Trooper’s Traverse!
Our backpacking portion of this trip will follow a route first accomplished in the winter of 1944 by members of the 10th Mountain Division who were headed to Europe to fight in WWII. It was their training mission before going over.
I first came across a description of the Trooper Traverse in an article — aptly titled “Lost Trails” — published in the June 2007 issue of Backpacker magazine. The Trooper Traverse is a spectacular journey that is rich with history and likely to make a lasting impression. This 30 mile one-way trip features some of the most pristine high country in the United States. And the best part of this trip is that YOU get to do the route finding to help get the group safely across this mountain range!
Peak Climbing: Mount Belford & Oxford
For our last day, we will attempt not just one fourteen thousand foot peak…but TWO! Belford is named after Colorado’s first congressman after statehood. And Oxford is named after the university by the same name. The two are very doable but the challenge comes with doing them in one day.
You can find more info about these peaks here…
Rock Climbing & Mountain Biking
The area around Aspen is home to many great adventures. The mountain biking is incredible.
Rock-climbing possibilities are endless. All gear will be provided. So, all you need is a willingness to persevere, problem-solve, and push beyond what you thought you could do.
