“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” ~ Mark Twain

A Father’s Journey

Being a dad is arguably the toughest job on the planet.  But we know it can be one of most rewarding too.  Disappointment, excitement, failure, and deep levels of joy can happen in a father’s journey….and at times in one day! There are forces that battle against your time, relationships and significance on a daily basis as well.

In the middle of all that, we know you have a special desire to connect with you son.  We believe that is a God given desire and call for you to pass the mantle of manhood to your son.  But, we know that calling can be overwhelming sometime and you may wonder, “have I done all I can to raise my son?”

We desire to help take some pressure off by encouraging, guiding and making sure you have the right “gear in your pack” for the remaining journey in life with your son.

This is Not Your Average Father/Son Trip!

This trip is designed for some healthy father/son bonding but also with a healthy dose of adventure mixed in.  And as an added component, we will have coaching and mentoring to aid in helping you to connect with your son on a deeper level even when the trip is over.

Here is what you can expect…IMG_2476

Trip Details:

Cost

The cost includes all costs associated with local transportation, food, adventures and permits unless otherwise noted.   As mentioned above, even though the price does not include travel/airfare to Estes Park, we can certainly take care of booking options for you and your son and then add it to your overall trip fee.

Backpacking

We believe that a man needs to experience wild places and taste a bit of wilderness from time to time, what better way then through backpacking? This trip will consist of a 19-mile loop around the Never Summer Wilderness outside of Estes Park, CO. This is a beautiful loop that offers some spectacular views but also one we believe is doable to all ages and fitness levels. We want everyone to enjoy backpacking and not feel as its outside of their ability so the pace and daily mileage will reflect this.

Tent, sleeping bag & pad, and backpack will be provided unless you desire to use your own.

Accommodations:

The first few days of the trip will consist of sleeping in a tent (the first night there and the evenings out backpacking). On the 4th day of the trip we will be done with the backpacking portion and spending the rest of the evenings in a cabin or retreat center. This will give everyone the opportunity to clean up and spend the rest of the trip in a comfortable bed.IMG_5437

Optional Day:

We are also aware that some activities may be more appealing to some so we have structured Day 5 and 6 with a few varying chooses. Day 5 will offer whitewater rafting through an outfitter in Estes Park which can either be a half or full day, depending on the wants of the group. Day 6 will consists of either hiking Longs Peak or rocking climbing in “The Monastary” area north town. You are welcome to pick and choose which activities suite you best or skip them all and spend some time relaxing.

Coaching:

This is the aspect that we are most excited about. Brad Shell, with Inspire Life Coaching, will be joining the trip on the evening of the 4th day to speak and meet with each pair during the remainder of the trip. We strongly believe that implementing the spiritual gifts of the church along with coaching will result in a powerful outcome for the father/son relationship but also for each individual.
